"170th AHC - 'BIKINIS' & 'BUCCANEERS'"

Color home movie footage filmed by SP/5 Stephen Crawford, Crew Chief of Bikini Blue 394 and Buccaneer 166 -- 170th AHC, Camp Holloway, Pleiku during 1967 and 1968. Also includes some additional footage from SP/4 William Hill, HHD 52nd AVN BN, filmed in 1967.

You'll see shots of Camp Holloway -- the "Bikini Beach" sign, hootch area, helicopter maintenance area, Hueys landing, "Buccaneer" gunships ready to take off, panning shots of the hills and scenery around the base, and more.

There's lots of aerial footage filmed at different times onboard Hueys -- flying past helicopters on the ground, over villages and following roads, aerial shots of F-4s making bomb runs in the mountains, a low-level pass over Dak To airstrip where you'll see the smoldering remains of two C-130s, great footage filmed while circling the mountain-top radio relay site "Leghorn", flying in Laos over the Ho Chi Minh Trail, and more.

On the ground, you'll see "Bikini Blue 394" up close, and later footage of its wreckage. There's a Bob Hope USO Christmas Show with Raquel Welch, street scenes in Pleiku, Vietnamese women doing laundry, scenes filmed from a moving truck and more.
Additional footage includes:
~shots from inside a Buccaneer gunship, firing rockets and minigun
~soldier with M-79 posing amidst purple smoke from a smoke grenade
~sign on an outhouse, "Peyton Place"
~scout helicopter landing and taking off
~soldiers rounding up pigs
~visit to a Montagnard village to drop off civilians
~aerial shots of a crashed Huey with men & helicopters at the scene
~halo-effect surrounding the cameraman's Huey while flying
...and more.
