Vietnam War Home Movies

Short home movies from six different servicemen, filmed at various locations during the war, including Pleiku, Long Binh, and Saigon.

1. AMBUSH PATROL - shots filmed around hootch area, guys playing volleyball. Armed men going out on patrol, wading in water, searching the bushes, then taking a break to smoke a joint before returning on the road to their base.
2. JOHN'S VIETNAM - footage filmed from the USS Madera County (LST-905) -- Vietnamese kids in boats and swimming, view of villages on the shore, larger towns with billboards along the river, armed man on deck watching the shore, passing by the USS Hickman County (LST-825).
3. PLEIKU - shots of the base and surrounding area, Vietnamese crowd standing around, guys playing baseball, various buildings on base: Air Police Squadron building, large wooden chapel. Footage of Vietnamese town shops and street vendors.
4. 159th ENGR. CO. Long Binh & Saigon - slow panoramic shots of compound area -- buildings, bunkers and trucks. Guys having their pictures taken. City scenes in Saigon with lots of traffic and aircraft overhead.
5. FORGY'S 20th ENGINEERS - crew of men digging trench in compound. Panoramic shots of the compound, hootchmaids, inside shots (some dim) of men working at drafting tables inside office or shop area. Footage of a Chinook hovering near the ground and then lifting off with a sling-load.
6. BIG ARTY - Helicopter flying in close overhead with a sling-load. Close-up shots of M107 175mm self-propelled gun and crew, preparing to fire. Huge fire-ball and smoke in valley below.

The DVD has a soundtrack of AFVN radio shows.
