Vietnam War Home Movies

Color home movies filmed by a soldier with the 159th Eng. Gp, 62nd Engineer Bn -- constructing buildings and roads in the Long Binh area during 1967.

You'll see panoramic shots of the base and areas under construction, stacked rafters and lumber, 62nd Eng. Bn. trucks and equipment. There's footage of distant air strikes with jets diving and plumes of smoke. You'll watch the progress of a building going up, from the stone foundation walls to the "cupola" on top of the unfinished roof, (with a small tree sticking out of it). You'll watch as a Huey smoke-ship lays down a smoke screen on the outskirst of the base, and later a huge smoke plume fills the sky (ammo dump explosion?). There's footage of a country-western band with a female singer entertaining the troops from a small stage, and shots of heavy equipment working on a road.

~men playing football and relaxing at picnic tables
