"USS KITTY HAWK ~ WESTPAC 1965-66"
Vietnam War Home Movies

Color home movie footage filmed in early 1966 by a sailor aboard the USS Kitty Hawk on the ship's first WestPac Cruise of the Vietnam War. Includes footage filmed off Vietnam, at NAS Cubi Point and Grande Island in the Philippines, at Yokosuka, Japan, and back home in California.

You'll see scenes filmed aboard the Kitty Hawk in the South China Sea -- flight deck activity including launch and recovery of A-1 Skyraiders (VF-115 Arabs), A-4 Skyhawks (VA-113 Stingers), F-4 Phantoms (VF-213 Black Lions and VF-114 Aardvarks), A-5 Vigilantes (RVAH-13 Bats), and more. There's footage of the other ships in Task Force 7, including the destroyer "Harry D. Hubbard" (DD-748), and replenishment operations with the ammunitions ship USS Mount Baker (AE-4) and combat stores ship USS Mars (AFS-1). Heading home from Vietnam, there are stops in the Philippines at Grand Island and NAS Cubi Point, at Yokosuka Japan, and some final shots of Point Loma and Shelter Island, San Diego California.

The DVD has a soundtrack of Armed Forces Radio and another 1960s radio station.
