"III CORPS ARTY"
Vietnam War Home Movies

Color home movie footage filmed by a member of an artillery unit that fired 155mm Howitzers (towed) from various Fire Support Bases in the Saigon area during 1969. Much of the footage is of C Battery, 3rd Bn, 197th FA of the NH National Guard.

You'll see scenes of various fire support bases, artillery positions, 155mm Howitzers (towed) being loaded and fired. You'll go on convoy through the countryside, passing through towns, crossing the Saigon River on a pontoon bridge next to the Phu Cuong Bridge which is being repaired after a sapper attack. You'll see scenes filmed in camp -- artillery emplacements, bunkers, soldiers & Vietnamese civilians, and footage of a convoy of APCs and tanks passing by. Another road trip takes you to Tan Son Nhut Air Base, and you'll see some aerial footage of the countryside shot from a helicopter. The last segment of the film was shot at a Vietnamese military camp -- you'll see women cooking, children washing up and eating, and soldiers in tigerstripe uniforms killing a pig.
