"DUC LAP ADVISOR"

Color home movie footage filmed by SP4 Gary Oppenheim, a MACV Infantry Advisor to the 25th ARVN Division, 49th Rgt. in Duc Lap, Vietnam during 1968-1969. He was with Advisory Team #99.

You'll see scenes filmed at the ARVN compound in Duc Lap -- shots of the camp, American and Vietnamese soldiers, a Vietnamese doctor and his family, a flag ceremony, men goofing around, boxing and playing basketball, Huey and LOH helicopters over the compound, and footage of damage filmed the morning after a mortar attack on the camp. There's footage shot while driving through Duc Lap Village, ceremonies at an airstrip, and aerial shots filmed from a helicopter while flying over the countryside. You'll see Hueys from the 118th AHC "Thunderbirds" landing at Bao Trai Air Strip, loading up ARVN troops, and taking off. You'll fly in to Tra Cu Advanced Tactical Support Base (SF Camp A-352), where you'll see Vietnamese Special Forces troops gearing up for a mission. The return flight from Tra Cu to Duc Lap takes you over fields pock-marked with bomb craters. Other footage includes:

~men firing a 105mm Howitzer
~Vietnamese children
~121st AHC "Soc Trang Tigers" Huey noseart at Tra Cu
~helicopter trip to Saigon
