South Korea, 1955 - 1956

Color and b&w home movies filmed on an inspection tour of South Korea, with stops in Seoul, footage of ROK troops, and President Syngman Rhee. Also included is a "slide show" of photos shot in S. Korea in the mid-1950s.

Beginning with views over Washington DC and scenes filmed at an "Overseas Replacement Station", you continue on a flight to Korea, with a stop at Wake Island. In Korea, you'll have a great view while driving through Seoul, and tour the grounds of the Chang Duk Imperial Palace where a Korean crew is filming a movie. You'll see armed ROK troops jogging through city streets while a military band plays, footage filmed from a helicopter, U.S. & ROK officers eating lunch in a clearing near an H-34 helicopter. There's extensive footage of Pres. Syngman Rhee with U.S. and ROK Generals, reviewing troops on a parade ground, and more.
The slideshow includes shots of tent camps, a large camp under construction, snowy mountains, entertainers on a make-shift outdoor stage, a crashed F4U Corsair, and much more.
