"SSGT. SHELTON'S MIDWAY ISLANDS - 1956"

A humorous look at daily life on Midway, filmed by SSgt. Lawrence M. Shelton while he was stationed there with the USAF during 1956.

You'll see panning shots overlooking the base on Midway, views of the buildings, signs, flightline, etc.
Shelton filmed little staged vignettes of his daily life -- getting up in the morning, working at his desk, getting a Coke from the fridge, riding a bicycle, harassing the Gooney Bird population and goofing around with the guys: he filmed some hilarious mock fist-fights and chase scenes. You'll also see Shelton at work, refueling an B-57 Canberra, driving a forklift, and working as a bartender at the Officer's Club.

~Shelton dragging a huge fish onto the beach

~Shelton's "office" with a wall of pin-up girl art
~aerial shots over Sand Island and Eastern Island

The DVD has a soundtrack of 1950s radio shows.
