The movie begins with some great panning shots of the airbase looking down from Nui Dat Hill. We've included the captions that were written on the original film boxes, including "Saturday morning in the hootch" which shows a group of older men relaxing with drinks and the morning paper (one man's name tape reads "Puckett"), "Road to Cam Ranh Bay", "Phan Rang bomb dump", "Breakfast Club - Duffy O, McJackson, Harry Cornelius", "Q1 and 2 Cookout", and more. You'll see footage of their hootch area and "club" -- men cooking, mixing paint, filling sandbags, etc. There's a doghouse with a wooden Snoopy on top and a sign, "Daisy Hill Puppy Farm" on a grassy area of the compound, and the men pose by an old tree trunk. There are some shots of aircraft on the runway -- F-100 Super Sabres, B-57 Canberra, a C-119 Flying Boxcar, etc., Vietnamese women doing laundry, rock quarry machinery, and more.
