VF-192 "GOLDEN DRAGONS"
Korean War Home Movies

Color and b/w home movie footage filmed by LT/JG Harvey M. Winfrey while aboard the USS Princeton (CV-37) during the Korean War, training at NAS Moffett Field, California, and aboard the USS Oriskany (CVA-34) in 1953, plus a "scrapbook" of slides and clippings from Carrier Air Group 19's Far East Cruise, 1951-52.

You'll see scenes filmed aboard the "Sweet Pea" -- Men from Fighter Squadron 192 posing for group photos on the flight deck and close-ups of some of the officers. Great shots of flight operations and in-flight aerial footage filmed on bombing runs over Korea. There's extensive footage of F4U Corsairs, Bearcats, and Panther jets landing and taking off, "Replenishment Day" footage of men and supplies being transferred from ships alongside the Princeton. There's footage of men doing maintenance on the planes and playing volleyball on deck.
You'll see the Princeton returning to San Francisco, passing under the Golden Gate Bridge and being greeted by a crowd and a marching band at NAS Alameda. There's a stop-over in Hawaii where you'll see shots of Honolulu, Pearl Harbor, Waikiki Beach and The Royal Hawaiian Hotel, and at NAS Moffett Field in California you'll see F9F Panthers practicing landings. Onboard the Oriskany you'll watch more flight ops -- take offs, landings and wave-offs of many different types of aircraft.

Also included is a 30+ minute long "Scrapbook" of photos and clippings from the Princeton's Far East Cruise, 1951-52.

The DVD has a soundtrack of early 1950s Armed Forces Radio broadcasts and other radio shows.
