"ADVENTURES OF THE SGT. CURTIS F. SHOUP (T-AG 175)"
New Guinea & SW Pacific home movies, 1963-1964

Color home movies filmed onboard the USNS Sgt. Curtis F. Shoup (T-AG 175) and with AST #7, servicing mountain-top survey sites by helicopter in New Guinea.

You'll see footage filmed onboard the Shoup -- an H-43 Husky landing and taking off with a slingload, a crewman dancing in a grass skirt, the ship's cook gutting a huge fish, view of a dock full of people, and more. There's also footage shot away from the Shoup -- you'll see the view from inside an H-43 while approaching a mountain-top landing pad, ride in a WWII era Landingcraft as it approaches the shore, visit a native village in the jungle, see the men from the Shoup paddling native canoes, visit a town in New Guinea (probably Port Moresby), and more.
Other footage includes:
~H-43 nicknamed "Wallaby I" (HH-43B 59-1569)
~H-43 "South Sea Sue" (HH-43B 60-0268)
~"Wewak Hotel" sign & buildings, New Guinea
~signs: "Coolibah", "Grand Hotel"
...and much more!
