"COMBAT SKYSPOT 1971-1972"
Vietnam War Home Movies

Color home movie footage filmed by Sgt. Harold R. Wright while serving with Det. 24, 1CEVG (SAC) during 1971-72, with footage shot in Vietnam, Thailand and South Korea.

You'll see scenes shot in Vietnam -- a variety of aircraft landing and taking off at Danang, a roadtrip through the AO where you'll see farm fields and villages, a locomotive passing by, a Huey on a roadside landing pad, and gunships attacking enemy positions in the distance. There's footage of guys constructing a building, and more shots of the airbase.
On a brief trip to Thailand you'll see footage filmed from the highway while driving through a city and the countryside -- colorful Thai buildings, city traffic, and billboards. At U-Tapao RTAB he filmed B-52s taxiing in after landing, and rows of aircraft on the flightline, with Buddha Mountain in the background.
Back in Vietnam you'll see more aircraft and base activity, guys playing with dogs in camp and having a BBQ, a CH-47 Chinook coming in for a landing, low-level fly-overs of a Loach and Cobra, and an F4 Phantom in a revetment.
Footage in South Korea was filmed in the winter at a hilltop radar site where you'll see shots of the surrounding mountains, camp buildings, radar dishes and antennas. You'll go on a roadtrip through the countryside and visit a zoo in Seoul.
Sgt Wright filmed his surroundings but didn't show much of the equipment or day-to-day operations of his job, which was classified.

The DVD has a soundtrack of AFVN and AFKN radio shows.
