"VMO-6 ~ KY HA"
Vietnam War Home Movies

Home movie footage filmed by SSgt. F. C. Harral, (Marine Observation Squadron 6, Motor Transport) at DaNang Airbase and Ky Ha Marine Air Facility during 1965 and 1966.

You'll see scenes filmed at DaNang Airbase -- mostly shots of activity around MATS cargo planes (1501st ATW C-141 Starlifter, 62nd ATW C-124 Globemaster) and other aircraft. There are driving scenes, passing through villages, footage of a military convoy moving through town, and arrival at Ky Ha Marine Air Facility near Chu Lai. At Ky Ha you'll see extensive footage of activity at the helicopter pads -- UH-34D's from HMM-261 "Raging Bulls", and UH-1E's of VMO-6. There's footage of troops loading into waiting helicopters, and also distant shots of the Med-Evac area -- much of this footage appears to have been filmed from the Motor Transport area of the compound, looking down toward the pads. Also included is footage from the Change of Command ceremony on March 23, 1966 when Maj Bob Presson relieved Lt Col Robert Zitnik as CO of VMO-6.

The DVD has a soundtrack of AFVN radio shows.
